Frequently Asked Questions for Data Center Solutions
Whether you are building a new hyperscale facility, commissioning an AI factory, or performing routine maintenance, we know you have specific questions. Select your role below to find the answers you need.
For Electrical Contractors (EC)
Why can’t I just use a resistive load bank to test my generators?
A resistive load bank (1.0 power factor) primarily tests the engine’s ability to provide horsepower. However, data centers operate at a lagging power factor. To fully test the alternator’s capacity and the entire voltage regulation system, you need a resistive/reactive load bank. This allows you to simulate a 0.8 power factor, ensuring the generator can handle the “real-world” inductive loads found in modern facilities.
I have a medium voltage (MV) loop (13.8kV or higher). Do I need a step-down transformer?
Not necessarily. C2C offers specialized Medium Voltage (MV) load banks that can connect directly to your loop (up to 33 kV). These units often feature integrated transformers and are designed for multi-megawatt projects, saving you the hassle and footprint of renting separate transformers.
Can I test my UPS and batteries with the same unit?
For AC UPS systems, yes, our resistive or resistive/reactive units are perfect. However, if you need to test the DC battery strings directly, we offer dedicated DC Load Banks. These are compact, portable, and allow you to precisely validate battery autonomy without risking the critical load.
For Mechanical Contractors (EMC)
Why should I use a liquid-cooled load bank instead of a boiler for testing my cooling loop?
Boilers are cumbersome and dirty. Our liquid-cooled load banks (manufactured by DeepCoolAI) are designed specifically for data centers. They connect directly to your Technology Cooling System (TCS) or CDU loops. Unlike carbon-steel boilers which can introduce rust, our units use stainless steel construction to prevent contamination of your sensitive cooling loops. Availability of the equipment and the cost to run a high horse powered boiler can be very costly in fuel costs.
How do I test a mixed environment (Air-Cooled and Liquid-Cooled racks)?
We recommend a hybrid testing approach. You can use our portable air-cooled resistive units to test the hot/cold aisle containment, while simultaneously deploying liquid-cooled units to validate the direct-to-chip or immersion cooling infrastructure. C2C can provide a single, centralized control solution to ramp these loads up and down in unison, simulating a “live” data center start-up.
Can your units simulate the high Delta-T required for AI clusters?
Yes. Our DeepCoolAI units are engineered to mimic the extreme thermal dynamics of high-density compute (like NVIDIA GB200 racks). They allow you to verify flow rates, pressure drops, and heat rejection capacities at the exact temperatures your design calls for.
For General Contractors (GC) & Commissioning Agents (CxA)
We are moving to Level 4 and Level 5 commissioning. Can you support the full Integrated Systems Test (IST)?
Absolutely. Level 5 IST is where C2C excels. We can deploy a massive fleet of load banks to simulate the total facility load—allowing you to “pull the plug” on utility power and verify that generators, UPS, and cooling systems all react correctly as a unified system. We ensure you validate the entire redundancy failover sequence before a single server is installed.
Do you offer “turnkey” support, or do we have to set this up ourselves?
We offer flexible support models to fit your labor strategy. We can provide Operator-Free Rentals if you have the team, or Full-Service Execution where our technicians handle everything from logistics and cabling to running the actual test. We also offer onsite training if you want your team to learn how to operate the equipment safely.
What if I need equipment immediately?
We maintain a large rental fleet with same-day deployment options for urgent needs. Our “advanced replenishment systems” ensure we have inventory ready when your schedule compresses.
AI & Liquid Cooling Solutions
My facility is designed for 100kW+ per rack. Can you simulate that density?
Yes. we offer the industry’s first modular hybrid load banks capable of scaling up to 250 kW per rack. These units fit standard rack footprints, allowing you to validate whitespace without bringing in actual compute hardware.
Do you have solutions for Immersion Cooling tanks?
Yes. Testing immersion requires validating two loops: the facility water loop and the dielectric tank itself. Our load banks can be connected to the immersion tank to simulate load.
What is the largest capacity liquid-cooled unit you offer?
We are the first to offer the 1.4MW liquid-cooled load bank (DCAI-LBK-1400L). This massive unit is engineered to verify primary and secondary loops in large-scale Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC) data centers, drastically reducing the complexity of connecting multiple smaller units.
How can this load banks help me with Pressure and Leak Testing?
With a working pressure of 75 PSI and a test pressure rating of 225 PSI, this unit acts as a robust pressure test for your facility piping. It helps identify leaks, pressure drops, or weak points in the plumbing before they cause catastrophic failure in a live environment.
We are deploying high-density racks (50kW+). Can this unit handle the thermal load of a full row, and how hard is it to control multiple units for a full-hall test?”
A single unit provides 500kW of resistive load capacity. For larger tests, the system features a “Group Control” capability, allowing network control of multiple units5. The PLC is a Siemens control system that communicates via Ethernet or RS485 using ModBus/TCP6.
My facility uses direct-to-chip cooling with sensitive cold plates. If I rent a load bank, how do I guarantee it won’t introduce rust, brass shavings, or contaminants that could foul my CDUs?
The 500 kW liquid cooled load bank is engineered specifically for sensitive loops. All wetted components—including load elements, piping, wet sensors, and valves—are made entirely of stainless steel. The load elements utilize a submersible, tubular construction with a stainless-steel sheath. In addition, we recommend that you bring your load banks in when you flush your cooling lop and include them in flushing to ensure it meets your standards.
Will inserting this load bank into my loop kill my flow rate or dead-head my pumps?
The unit is designed for hydraulic transparency. It handles a flow rate range of 200LPM to 1000LPM11. Crucially, the pressure drop inside the load bank is 5PSI or less.
This is a high-pressure, high-current test. What safety mechanisms are in place to prevent a catastrophic leak or overheat event during the test?
The system includes a comprehensive fault detection system. It features sensors, alarms, and automatic shutdowns for High water temperature, Low coolant flow, High coolant pressure, sensor fault, Low coolant Level, and leakage Alarm. The unit is rated for a working pressure of 75PSI and tested to 225PSI.
How fast can we deploy this? Do we need special adapters?
Deployment is standardized for industrial speed, using standard 4 inch flanged supply and return connections with butterfly valves for fluid interfaces and Cam lock power panels with 2 x 400A Cam locks per phase, enabling plug and play commissioning that eliminates adapter delays and moves projects from delivery to full load testing faster while keeping commissioning schedules on track.
